a contract membership built for freelancers by a lawyer/freelancer
Contract Mastery
Where you stop piecing together scripts and templates and start building a strategy that lets you put your best legal foot forward with every client.
One that works for your business no matter what the project is or who the client is.
BECAUSE SCRIPTS AREN’T A SKILLSET.
Because it’s hard to figure anything out when you don’t have the full picture. You followed all the rules when you started your freelancing business:
✅ You got the template contract;
✅ You got the checklist of “must have” contract terms;
✅ And you even joined the freelancing communities so you could talk through contract issues with other freelancers.
You did everything right, but you’re still guessing when it comes to contracts. It still feels like you’re buckling up for another David vs. Goliath battle where you’ve been setup to lose every time a contract crosses your desk.
It’s not that those resources suck; they’re just incomplete.
Because it doesn’t matter if you’ve been freelancing for 2 months or 2 decades, contracts are never going to click for you if you’re piecing together scripts and templates and calling it a strategy.
And sure, maybe those scripts and templates are the reason you are where you are now, but we both know that’s no longer good enough.
You know you want more control in your business. You want to be the one calling the shots, setting the terms, and leading your client where you want them to go.
You want to arrive at the negotiation table commanding the respect your expertise deserves.
You know you’re tired of feeling like your clients are walking all over you and there’s nothing you can do about it.
The resources and tools you have aren’t enough. And that’s why you need Contract Mastery.
It’s not that you can’t figure out contracts; it’s that you’ve only been told half of the information you need.
Scripts and Templates don’t cut it when your client has all the resources to make sure you get nothing.
You need a strategy.
There’s a difference between using a script and understanding its impact: the script alone gives you the “what”, but understanding the impact requires you to know the “how” and the “why.” And to do that you need a skillset.
You need to know how to think like a lawyer.
Not just plugging in template language into a random contract, but understanding how a change in the language shifts the impact on your business and your client’s.
Not just using a checklist, but an understanding of how both your and your client’s of needs are reflected in the contract.
Not just sample language on how to push back on an indemnity clause, but the ability to identify what kinds of indemnity are and aren’t appropriate for the kind of work you do.
Not just using a template, but being able to circumnavigate your client’s sh*tty internal policies to get what you need for the deal to be a go.
This isn’t just another collection of scripts and checklists; it’s the skillset that changes how you approach contracts with every client.
Contract Mastery is where you connect the “what” to the “how” and the “why” to create a custom contract strategy for your business so you can put your best legal foot forward with ever client.
When you have a contract strategy, here’s what you’re able to do:
📚 Confidently send contract redlines back to your client with clear explanations that get an easy “yes” from them.
🪄Ditch your days of wrestling with scope creep and working for free.
📚 Actually know for sure when you can and can’t sign a contract.
🪄Approach every contract negotiation with a clear plan designed to get you what you need for the project to be a go.
📚 Sign a solid contract every time so you can move on to doing the work you’re good at that actually gets you paid.
🪄Communicate your contract needs to a client without feeling like you’re rocking the boat or being a “problem.”
📚 Find workarounds to annoying client policies that would otherwise stop you from taking the project.
🪄Have clients that trust you implicitly and defer to your expertise because of the level of professionalism you bring to the table.
Welcome to Contract Mastery
The membership where you stop trying to piece together other people’s scripts and start building a contract strategy for you — one that aligns with your business needs, your risk tolerance, and your goals, no matter who your client is or what the project is.
With Contract Mastery, you’ll change your relationship to contracts for good.
You’ll learn how to master in your own way and on your own time with direct support from me.
And you’ll receive the lessons, resources, and support you need to outmaneuver your clients to get what you need from every client deal.
Let’s be real about where you’re at right now because the problem isn’t that you’re “bad at contracts;” it’s that you don’t know what you don’t know.
So right now ➡️
You feel like legalese is a different language you’ll never understand.
When you should feel like you can figure out any contract with the right context. Instead, legalese feels like the thing keeping you from figuring out contracts. That indemnity clause feels inherently unfair but you can’t say why. The confidentiality clause is longer than a CVS receipt that’s piled high with legal terms you don’t understand.
It makes trying to figure out contracts feel like a waste of time.
You’re never sure your contract really covers you.
Even if you have a template, part of you is always wondering if you’ve covered every scenario. You’re not sure what needs to be in your contract for it to be solid.
You’re done feeling like you’re guessing at contracts this far into your freelancing career.
you think Once you start the acutal work you’ll be good.
It’s everything before that that’s the problem. The pricing your work. The proposing your work. The negotiating the actual contract.
It feels like those things should flow together in one fluid motion. Instead the whole process feels disjointed and it makes you second guess yourself.
It’d be so much easier if you had a contract strategy that pieced all of these parts together so you could move effortlessly from discovery call to first invoice paid.
but Then you start the work and things go sideways.
Your client pushes back your start date…again. The direction of the project changes and you essentially nerd to start all over. Then your client needs you to implement yet another round of feedback promising that “this is the last one.”
There has been so much back and forth that you’re starting to lose money on the project. But you do another round of edits anyway because the you don’t want to risk the client not paying after all that work.
even though it’s clear that you take your business seriously.
You deliver excellent work and have a good reputation in your industry. But contracts still make you question if you’re the real deal. You keep pendulum swinging between avoid them entirely and obsessing over needing to “figure them out.”
You wish you could talk to a lawyer about what you’re doing and create an actual strategy for managing contracts in your business, but all you keep getting is another template.
Contract Mastery is where we leave all that sh*t behind.
This is about more than figuring out contracts; it’s about establishing yourself as a professional so you can feel like the real deal you already are when engaging clients.
Here’s what life looks like when you finally Master Contracts 🎯
🎯 Legalese doesn’t phase you.
Not in a “I know exactly what every contract term means” way, but in a “I know how to figure out how this impacts me” way. You now have a concrete plan for reviewing every contract to understand what it says and how it needs to change, regardless of how dense the legalese is in it.
🎯 You have control over whether your needs get met.
It’s not up to the client and their policies anymore. You’re done leaving things up to chance when it comes to what your business needs. You’re asking the right questions, at the right time and using that information to get what you need from every deal regardless of whether your client is willing to cooperate.
No more resenting your client after signing their “take it or leave it contract”; we’re outsmarting them instead.
🎯 Contracts are a well oiled machine in your business.
No more guessing or disjointed processes. We’re leaving that behind and replacing it with smart information gathering, clever planning, and strategic negotiation priorities to get what you need to move forward with a project.
Now you move smoothly from the discovery call, to the proposal, to the contract signing, to the first invoice paid.
🎯 Holding boundaries with your clients feels effortless.
Because you have the procedures in place to course correct problems before they spiral out of control. You client knows ahead of time when and how much they’ll have to pay for extra work and when they need to reply to you.
Anytime they stray from your policies, you simply blame the contract and take the appropriate action your client already agreed to.
🎯 You respect your business and so do your clients.
Taking the contracts in your business seriously signals to your clients that you’re notthe one or the two, as my grandma likes to say. You take your work seriously and you’ve done the work to navigate contracts professionally and intelligently.
You know what you’re doing and your client sees that, respects it, and trusts your leadership implicitly.
Contracts used to be the thing you glossed over and hoped it didn’t come back to bite you in the ass. Now it’s what you use to establish your expertise with your client and build a stronger working relationship.
That’s the Contract Mastery way.

Your Contract Mastery Roadmap —
your path from contract novice to contract master
Step 1
Master Your Foundations
This is where we set the foundation. You start with your contract readiness assessment that asks you specific questions about your current approach to contracts to identify gaps are and action items so you knew where to start your journey to mastery.
Step 2
Master Your strategy
Then you go straight into strategy mode: identifying your risks, the different kinds of clients you work with and their risks, and how to tease that information out during discovery calls so you build strategic proposals and craft contract strategies that get you what you need from every deal.
Step 3
Master Your skill
Now you're ready to apply and implement your strategy with the right tools. You'll find everything from contract templates, negotiation scripts, checklists, and terms glossaries designed to help you build an approach to contracts that works for you. Each tool includes detailed instructions showing you how to use each tool in defferent situations so you can see how context shifts your strategy.
Step 4
Master the negotiation
This is where we put it all together: the foundations, the strategy, and the skills all come together when its time to negotiate so you leave your days of guessing behind and approach every negotiation with precision and clarity. You'll enter every negotiation prepared with a flexible plan to get your needs met while still honoring the needs of your client.
Step 5
Master the refinement
Every month we gather live to workshop your most burning contract and client management issues. Everything from actual negotiation, to discovery calls, proposals, and course correcting projects that veer off course and potentially impact payment. This gives us space to apply what we've learned and get real-time feedback from a lawyer on how to adjust your strategy.
This membership isn’t about changing your miNDsEt. It’s about showing you how to hold your own as a freelancer in an increasingly hostile environment where companies are cutting your rates and very few laws exist to protect freelance workers.
So here’s my Contract Mastery promise:
context that matters
You’re not confused about how to understand contracts. You’re confused about how they impact your business and your clients’. Contract Mastery gives you the context you need so you can see the full picture so you can connect the dots between the information gathering you do in a discovery call to the negotiation you do once a client says yes to the course correcting you do if and when the contract veers off track.
skill building, not quick fixes
If you’re looking for a quick guide or template, you’re in the wrong place. Around here, we’re focused on skills because mastery requires a skillset. You need to be able to understand, apply, and integrate what you learn to master anything. Every piece of the Contract Mastery curriculum is designed to build lasting skills that apply to every stage of your business.

MEET YOUR GUIDE TO CONTRACT MASTERY
Hi, I’m Brionna 👋🏾
12 Years in Law.
8 Years Consulting.
100+ Customers Served.
I’m here to show you how to think like a lawyer so you can stay where you belong: firmly in the driver’s seat of your own business.
I’m a legal advocate for freelancers and consultants working to give you the skills you need to navigate contracts confidently in your business and hold your own with your clients.
I’ve worked in big law, worked as in-house counsel in tech, and served small businesses. But I’ve also been a consultant navigating horrible vendor onboarding processes I used to write the policies for (sorry!) as in-house counsel.
I’ve dealt with everything from 60-day payment terms to non-negotiable contracts to clients who want to skip the contract altogether and pay me..whenever. I’m intimately familiar with how frustrating contracts can be and how helpless you can feel facing off against a Goliath client.
My goal isn’t to give you quick fixes or band-aid contract solutions. It’s to show you how to think on your feet and get ahead to avoid being caught between the proverbial rock and hard place with your client.
In Contract Mastery, I’m giving you something no other lawyer will: the foundational legal skills you need to understand and negotiate any contract and navigate any client situation.
My mission isn’t just to help you negotiate contracts. It’s to permanently change your relationship to the law of your business so you have the legal knowledge you need to leverage the expertise you bring to every client’s table.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Most members spend about 30 minutes inside the membership per week either working through a part of the Contract Mastery curriculum or asking questions. If they’re actively reviewing and negotiating a contract, they might spend closer to 1 hour inside the membership that particular week.
-
There are a few members who joined who only negotiate contracts 2 to 3 times a year who stay in the membership month after month. Most negotiate 3 to 5 contracts annually. It’s worth it to members to feel prepared to negotiate contracts without having to guess or feel like they’re starting from scratch. They also use the membership to troubleshoot client management issues on existing projects.
-
Yes. This membership is pay-as-you-go and you can cancel at any time. You aren’t trapped in a long-term commitment.
-
The monthly live meetings will either be a Q&A where people can show up live and get my direct help working through an issue OR, if there is an issue everyone is struggling with, I will do a workshop on it. The materials may or may not build on each other month to month, but my goal is to focus the workshops on the stickiest parts of your journey to figuring out contracts so that people can get “unstuck” and keep moving.
-
All the live sessions will be recorded and available for playback at any time inside of the membership so you can refer back to them or catch up. When the workshop is a Q&A, I take questions ahead of time and answer them live. If you can’t attend live, you can still get your question answered and then just watch the playback.
-
No. If you join Contract Mastery, I will not be your lawyer and you will not have an attorney-client relationship with The Lawless Lawyer or Brionna Ned LLC. The membership is for educational purposes only.
