lowercase legal

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A LAWYER TO GET THE UPPER HAND IN YOUR CLIENT CONTRACTS.

lowercase legal is a done-with-you contract negotiation system that shows consultants and freelancers in corporate contracting how to secure better deals.

For a one time fee of $1,499 until September 22, 2025 (then the price goes up).

THE "TAKE WHAT YOU CAN GET" APPROACH TO CORPORATE CONTRACTS IS CREATING AN INDUSTRY-WIDE RACE TO THE BOTTOM

Consultants and freelancers have been tiptoeing around client contracts for years and accepting whatever is offered to avoid rocking the boat, but each year corporations are tightening their budgets, offering less money to their consultants and vendors, and sending you increasingly unfair contract terms.

Getting contracts right isn't just about getting better deals and charging your clients more; it's about commanding respect where it's due and making the value of what you bring to the table loud and clear to your clients.

The best part is that you don't need to be a lawyer to level the playing field and command the respect you've always deserved. You just need the right information presented to you in a way that makes it easy to implement into your business strategy.

Let lowercase legal be your first and last stop on the road to better contracts.

This contract system was built for people like you. Not marketing and tech bros trying to scale to infinity and beyond, but for the regular-degular solopreneurs and small teams who want to negotiate fairer deals that get you paid in full and on time.

WHICH HAMSTER WHEEL ARE YOU STUCK ON?

TOO AFRAID TO STIR THE POT

You know the contracts your clients send you are unfair. You might even know that your clients are underpaying you. But contracts are so complicated they feel like a lost cause so you tolerate the disrespect because it seems like your only option.

FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT WITHOUT BACK UP

You're not afraid to push back on your client's contracts and you do it regularly. You've even gotten some wins. The problem? You're going into battle with one hand tied behind your back because you're missing the legal know-how you need to stand your ground effectively.

OUT OF YOUR DEPTH AND YOU KNOW IT

Business is good. Maybe a little too good actually. The requests to work together are flowing in right and left, but keeping up with the contracts -- making sure they're priced and structured correctly -- is another story. You've got the business, but you can't shake the feeling that important legal things are slipping through the cracks.

"Rather than approach contracts in a defensive crouch, unsure of exactly what I'm signing and crossing my fingers that it turns out okay, I'm now empowered to ask for exactly what I need and confident in my legal decision." - Becca K., freelancer writer

"Thanks so much, Brionna. This helps so much not to be constantly guessing and stressed from all of this." - Stephanie R., freelancer writer

GET THE LEGAL KNOW-HOW YOU NEED IN A WEEKEND

Yes, a weekend. It's 5 hours total of material broken down into three guides:

- A legal risk assessment so you know what risks you need to protect going into your contract;

- A fix-your-template guide so you can have a customized service contract ready to go in the event that your client utters those magical words "can you send us a contract?" after saying yes to your proposal; and

- The big daddy of them all: the contract negotiation guide you can use to negotiate better terms in your client's contracts that includes what each term means, why it's important, how to propose changes to the term, and what changes you should propose to get a better contract that honors the value you bring to the table.

ADDED BONUS: Ask me questions anytime you hit a roadblock in the Slack channel so I can help you figure out the best way forward.

MOST LAWYERS WILL NEGOTIATE THE CONTRACT FOR YOU INSTEAD OF TEACHING YOU HOW TO NEGOTIATE FOR YOURSELF

And there's nothing inherently wrong with that, except that it undervalues what you're capable of. The consultants and freelancers in lowercase legal are experts in their field. You're smart people who just happen to be out of your depth on the legal side of things.

And truthfully, you don't need a lawyer on retainer to do all your negotiating; nor is that a feasible financial move for most of you.

I believe you're more than capable of negotiating for yourself. Not only that, but I think learning the basics of contracts and negotiation will build your confidence, make you a better business strategist, and a savvier business owner overall.

"I don't think that I've had anyone bring that up in that specific way to me before... I think this could be really interesting actually, and be something that I can create that almost in a way, sells itself." - Andrea L., Consultant

HI, I’M BRIONNA, AND I USED TO BE IN YOUR SHOES

Only, I was a lawyer. And not just any lawyer.

I used to litigate contract disputes. I also used to write the vendor contracts your clients send you.

But when I was a corporate wellness consultant I still struggled. My company worked with marketing agencies, startups, Fortune 100s, nonprofits, research labs, medical residents, and middle schoolers.

Each vendor onboarding process was different and so was each contract. They were so different and some were so onerous that I found it hard to keep up as a lawyer. That's when I started wondering how non-lawyers navigate this process. I wondered how you negotiate these onerous terms like mandatory insurance provisions, wild data security requirements, and ungodly payment terms.

So I started asking my mutuals and got the answer: folks were treating negotiation part of corporate contracting like a lost cause because they didn't know what else to do.

Well, that made me mad. And when I'm angry I do something.

This offer is for my consultant and freelancer friends who left me teary voice notes and sent me panicked texts about their client contracts. I created this offer so I can tell you everything I know about corporate contracting from the perspective of a litigator, an in-house counsel lawyer, and a fellow consultant so you can finally get the upper hand you always deserved when negotiating with your clients.

I’VE HANDLED THESE CONTRACTS FROM EVERY ANGLE

Okay, maybe not every angle, but you have to admit that litigating them, writing them, negotiating them as in-house counsel, and negotiating them as a consultant is a lot of different viewpoints.

I say all that to say that I know stuff.

I KNOW WHY YOUR CLIENT PUT THAT TERM IN THE CONTRACT

I KNOW WHICH TERMS MAKE DISPUTES EASY OR HARD TO RESOLVE

I KNOW HOW TO LEVERAGE PROPRIETARY IP TO GET WHAT YOU WANT AND NEED

And inside of lowercase legal, my brain is YOUR brain.

HOW MY BRAIN WORKS FOR YOU

“I now have a contract that is more clear to me and to my clients.”

Meet Dana Escamilla, a branding and marketing consultant who was hesitant to jump into the legal of her business for fear that it might open up a can of worms she wasn’t ready for. Her biggest goals and motivations for joining lowercase legal were rewriting her service contracts and gaining a deeper understanding of legal risk so she can be more discerning in her business decisions.

Here's what she has to say about her lowercase legal experience:

"lowercase legal has so much value and the fix-your-template guide in particular already has made a significant difference in my business. With the help of this guide, I gained a better understanding of what was even written in the off-the-internet contract I was using and what I really needed given my business model and size.  I was able to ask Brionna a couple tailoring questions and confidently customize the contract language to fit my business and working process.  Now when I send the contract, it no longer feels like a box to check off the onboarding to do list, but a solid foundation for starting a client engagement and relationship."

“This program has been so much more than I expected. It educated me on how to confidently advocate for what I need. Every component of the program has been transformative.”

Meet Stephanie Ritz, a freelance medical writer who joined lowercase legal to have access to a trusted resource to get answers to all her contract questions. Before joining, her approach to contracts was reactive rather than proactive.

Here's what she has to say about her lowercase legal experience:

"Through this program, I’ve gained practical strategies to address challenges in my business. Most importantly, I’ve learned how to limit my liability in ways that give me peace of mind. I now have confidence that my contracts truly protect me and my business. I highly recommend this program to small business owners because it not only provides expert legal guidance, but also empowers you to truly understand contracts, protect your business, and approach negotiations with confidence and clarity. It transforms contract discussions from feeling intimidating into feeling like it is an opportunity to build stronger client relationships and set your business up for long-term success."

YOU DON'T NEED A LAW DEGREE TO CLOSE A GREAT CLIENT DEAL

You don't need to study endlessly for years and survive solely on coffee and breakfast tacos. I did that for you. And I've distilled down what I've learned in 11 years as a lawyer and 3 years as a six-figure consultant into a comprehensive system that takes 5 hours to complete.

So let me ask you this: is 5 hours of your time worth it?

If you spent 5 hours total fixing your service contract, doing your risk assessment, meeting with me 1:1, and working through the contract negotiation guide to fix your sales process and understand your contract positioning, would it be worth it?

So you could:

  • Feel prepared to negotiate

  • Feel confident that there's nothing legal slipping through the cracks

  • No what you can give and what you can't in contracts

  • Know how to maintain leverage that ensures you get paid on time and in full in your contracts

  • Never have to guess at contracts again.

THE TEA YOU’RE DYING TO KNOW (FAQ)

  • If you're a service provider who serves corporate clients making over $50k in revenue annually, then you're a fit. People who do well in lowercase legal genuinely want to get good at contracts and they want to understand how the law works in their business.

This offer is not for you if you're looking for done-for-you legal work like writing you customized contracts, negotiating your contracts for you, sending cease and desist letters on your behalf, or filing intellectual property registrations for you.

The Lawless Lawyer is not a law firm and instead focuses on teaching you what you need to know to be a legally savvy business owner.

  • You don't need to know anything about the law when you join lowercase legal, let alone what legal questions to ask about your business. That's why the legal risk assessment is written in plain English. You answer the questions in plain English and I tell you what the legal implications are.

Questions usually come up naturally as you work your way through the assessment or any of the guides. And if they don't you can simply observe other people's questions and learn from those. You don't have to be an active participant in the conversation on Slack to get value.

The professional lurker in me sees and honors the professional lurker in you, lol!

  • We love a confident contract royal! The answer is that I'm not sure. If you feel like you know what you need to know, then you're probably right. I will say that I know a lot about the internal policies of companies at different stages like how they do and don't approve vendor work and under what circumstances those approvals are required. I'm also very good at sniffing out revenue streams you didn't even know you had. To me, that's all part of having a legal strategy that secures the bag; contracts are just the focal point that everything else is built around.

  • As many as you want. Like if you have 50-11 questions, ask 50-11 questions. For my sanity, please don't ask them all at the same time because it would take me hours to reply to that, but there's no limit on how many questions you can ask me. The Slack channel is there for me to support you. I have time boundaries around when I'm available, but otherwise have a ball.

*I do think that a lot of your questions will be answered when you work through the legal risk assessment and the contract guides, though. But maybe that’s just me believing my own hype!

  • It means you're a Founding Member and your benefit is that you pay me one time and get to be a member for as long as the offer exists. Pretty cool, right?

At the end of 2025/beginning of 2026, I'll close the membership to new members and when it re-opens it will be a subscription model. So get in while the getting is good!

  • No ma'am. The Lawless Lawyer is not a law firm. It's a legal education platform. I don't take clients and if you join the membership we will not have an attorney-client relationship.

If there is something legal in your business that I think you need to do a deep dive into, I tell you and do my best to refer you to an appropriate attorney.
